Vegan Chicken Wings

Who else misses chicken as a vegan? I know, a lot of people say it is „weird“ to make recipes that look or taste like chicken, beef or pork. The thing is though that a lot of us haven’t stopped eating meat because we think it tastes gross – we stopped because of ethical reasons, to save the animals, environment and better our healths. I have to admit that from time to time I still crave the taste of meaty foods. So that’s why I tried to find recipes that give me that satisfaction but also are – obivously – cruelty free but just as delicious (if not even better) than „normal“ meat. I’ve come across a lot of amazing vegan recipes and will show you one of my favourites today:

Vegan Chicken Wings

Here’s what you need for this delicousness:

  • 1 head of cauliflower
  • ~ 300 g flour
  • ~ 200 ml unsweetened soy or almond milk
  • ~ 200 g bread crumbs
  • Whichever sauce you like your wings to taste like! I’ve mixed together BBQ & Peri Peri Sauce to get the “real chicken wings taste”

How to make the vegan chicken wings:

  • Preheat oven to 180 degrees celcius. Chop your cauliflower in to “chicken wings sizes”. Add your flour into a large bowl and add as much soy/almond milk you need to get a nice consistency (not too runny, not too thick). You might not need as much flour or milk, just try the way it works best for you. Also add a little bit of salt/pepper/any other spices you like.

  • Add the bread crumbs in another large bowl. Then dip each piece of cauliflower into your flour/milk mixture.

  • Place your cauliflower pieces on parchment paper and put in the oven for ~ 10 mins or until they start to get brown and crispy.
  • Place whichever sauce you’ve chosen into another bowl and dip your ready cooked cauliflower into the bowl one by one and put them back in the oven for approximately another 5 mins. They are ready when they are brown and crispy and smell delicous 🙂

The vegan chicken wings just look exactly like the “normal” ones and definitely are in no way inferior to them. And way healthier. And it’s made so quickly. And it’s so easy. And so cheap. And no animal had to die or suffer because of it. So what keeps you giving them a shot? 🙂

Happy cooking my lovelies and best regards from London!
